Sir what does Mimesis mean?

i know it relates to diagesis.. and is somehow linked with "representation"...

how would it be put into context?

Mimesis:

To mime; to recreate; to represent; to imitate.

If something takes on a mimetic form, it represents something. Eg: The market square in Eastenders mimes East End markets in London. Therefore, mimesis of the everyday London area setting is used to reinforce the versimilitude of Eastenders.

It is actally quite a good way to describe the 'represented realities' that exist within media texts.
